SLOVAK PARADISE – KYSEĽ VIA FERRATA AND AUTUMN PANORAMA HIKE
SLOVAK PARADISE – KYSEĽ VIA FERRATA AND AUTUMN PANORAMA HIKE
This time I'm inviting you to the Slovak Paradise for a two-day autumn adventure! Waterfalls, steep rock walls, streamside paths and panoramic viewpoints await us this weekend.
On the first day we climb the Kyseľ via ferrata, exploring the spectacular world of the gorge with the help of steel cables and metal rungs. The next day we hike to the Tomášovský viewpoint, which looks out over the Hornád valley and the forested hills of the Slovak Paradise.
TOUR DIFFICULTY
This tour was designed for advanced and intermediate hikers. There will be elevation gain and challenges, which the weather can also influence.
Important! In the mountains many unforeseeable factors can affect the programme (e.g. changeable weather). For this reason I cannot guarantee the success of the tour and cannot accept responsibility for changes. In extreme conditions the guide always decides on changes to the programme or the route!
PROGRAMME
-
01
Day one
Late afternoon departure from Budapest; around 16:00 – 17:00 we arrive in Hrabušice, a village close to the Slovak Paradise. We check in to our accommodation and rest.

02
Day two
After breakfast we pack up and set off on today's hike, which won't be a short one. We start from Podlesok along the Hornád, then climb up to Kláštorisko on the plateau. From here we follow the marked trails towards the Kyseľ gorge. Even on the approach we get a taste of the Slovak Paradise: forest paths and stream valleys accompany us.
Before the start we put on our harnesses, helmets and via ferrata sets, go over the rules of moving on the route and then head up the gorge. We climb along cable-protected sections, metal rungs and past waterfalls. One of the highlights of the tour is the area around the Giant Waterfall (Obrovský vodopád).
After the via ferrata we return on marked trails to the car park where we left the cars.
In the evening we go back to our accommodation, have dinner and recover from the day.

Day three
After breakfast we pack up and continue the weekend with a shorter hike. Today's goal is one of the best-known viewpoints of the Slovak Paradise, the Tomášovský výhľad.
From Čingov we climb through the forest to the viewpoint. From the rock terrace the Hornád valley lies far below us, surrounded by wooded hillsides. We take a break, the cameras come out and there's time to enjoy the panorama.
We then return to the cars on a marked route chosen to suit the conditions. In the afternoon we set off home and arrive in Budapest in the evening.

Travel
We travel by carpool; those travelling to the venue on their own settle the travel costs among themselves. Those travelling by carpool share the total travel cost (of all vehicles) on average. Drivers and guides do not contribute to the travel costs. The travel cost is split between the passengers of each car, divided by the number of people in the car; the guide and the driver pay no travel costs! If you have a car and driving experience, sign up as a carpool driver!
Weather
Be prepared for changeable autumn weather; wind and rain can come at any time, so bring layered, warm and waterproof clothing and suitable equipment.
Food
During the hikes everyone takes care of their own food: sandwiches, sweet and savoury snacks, chocolate, energy bars.
Accommodation
We will stay in apartments.

Participation requires travel insurance covering the whole period, valid for mountain rescue and hospital treatment. Recommended insurer: EUB, extreme sports category eub.hu ↗
